10:30 am Three Brief Teachings on Lojong
The system of meditation practice, known as mind training or lobjong in Tibetan, is one of the most popular and widely-practised in Buddhism. These three short texts drawn from the famous collection known as ‘One Hundred teachings of Mind Training’ present extraordinary instructions for developing wisdom and compassion. With an unparalleled directness, they allow us to transform all situations, positive and negative, into the path of awakening.
2:30 -4.30pm Vajrayana Initiation* – The Sixteen Sthaviras
In the Buddhist tradition the sixteen senior disciples of Lord Buddha are considered to be important protectors of the teaching. The practice of meditation and prayer dedicated to them is maintained in all traditions of dharma. Lama Jampa will give this initiation from the lineage of Atisha, the great Indian master who brought this practice to Tibet.
*Please note that in order to attend the afternoon teaching you must have made formal commitment to the Buddhist path through the act of taking refuge. If you would like to request refuge from Lama Jampa prior to the initiation please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
