Bath Sakya Buddhist Group

DISCOVER BUDDHISM & MEDITATION

Tuesdays 8pm

Bath Sakya Buddhist Group opens its doors every Tuesday at 8pm

All are welcome

(Open every Tuesday in 2019 except:  20th & 27th August, 3rd September and 24th & 31st December)

At Bath Sakya Buddhist Group you can learn how to meditate and hear about the unique perspective on life that Buddhism has to offer, in a relaxed and friendly environment.

During 2019 we are running a cycle of talks on the foundations of Buddhism. Each week one of our group of speakers – all long-term students of Lama Jampa Thaye  and experienced Buddhist practitioners – will give a talk on one part of the foundations of the Buddhism so that over a few weeks they will present an overview of whole the Buddhist path, what it entails, and how to begin it. These sessions are suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience.

Our friendly and informal meetings take place every Tuesday at 8pm, and provide an introduction to Buddhist meditation, teachings and practice. The sessions will introduce you to calm-abiding meditation with advice on posture and the method. There will also be a short talk from the foundations of the Buddhist teachings, and the sessions end with a contemplation on this talk, followed by time for group discussion, questions and a hot drink.

These evenings are open to all those who wish to practise meditation and find out more about Buddhism. The sessions last around an hour.

In order to get a fuller understanding and overview of the profound teachings of Buddhism, you are recommended to attend at least a few sessions with us. Everyone is welcome whether or not you have any previous experience. There is no need to book – just turn up.

*See below for recommended reading around the topics discussed in the sessions.
