SUMMARY:Recitation of the King of Aspiration Prayers of Samantabhadra
DESCRIPTION:Thursday evenings monthly 7.30pm : Recitation of the King of As
piration Prayers of Samantabhadra\nThe session will commence with a short
shamatha meditation and then recitation of the prayer\, finishing by 8.30p
m.\nThe King of Aspiration Prayers is one of the most important liturgies
practised throughout Mahayana Buddhism. Derived from the Avatamsaka Sutra\
, it sets out the seven-branch preliminary practices and the essential asp
irations of one training on the path to full awakening.\nFrom the prayer:\
n"Whoever makes this Aspiration Prayer for Excellent Conduct will be free
from the lower realms and free from negative friends. They will see Amitab
ha soon\, acquire all benefits and be sustained in happiness. With all of
this their life will go well. Just like Samantabhadra they will become bef
ore long............... By making this Aspiration Prayer for Excellent Con
duct\, through whatever slight virtue I have accumulated\, may the virtue
of the aspiration prayers for all beings be accomplished instantly. Throug
h dedicating the Aspiration Prayer for Excellent Conduct \, by the infinit
e and genuine merit attained may all beings drowning in the rivers of suff
erings reach the place of Amitabha. May this King of Aspiration Prayers br
ing about the supreme aim and benefit for all infinite beings."\nThis sess
ion is open to all.\n\nIt is a face-to-face event in the shrine room.\n\n&

SUMMARY:Buddha Day - Lha Bab Duchen
DESCRIPTION:Today is one of the four great celebration days of the Buddhist
year\, Lha Bab Duchen.\nThe festival of Lha Bab Duchen ('Descent from the
heaven realms') commemorates the return of Shakyamuni Buddha from the hea
ven realm of Tushita where his mother had been reborn. In order to liber
ate her and to benefit other beings\, The Buddha spent three months there
teaching. The day he returned to the human realm was a cause of great cele
bration.\n\nAt the Sakya Centre in Bristol the day will be marked with the
recitation of the The Praise of the Twelve Deeds of Sakyamuni Buddha and
the beautiful Sixteen Sthaviras Puja. All are welcome to attend and partic
ipate.\n\n\n\nOn the four Buddha Days it is particularly auspicious to mak
e offerings and prayers to Lord Buddha accompanied by the group of sixteen
Arahats who vowed to remain in the world to protect and spread the Dharma
. Praying to this noble assembly also helps stabilise the lives of all our
Dharma teachers.\n\nPlease join us in the shrine room or on Zoom (using t
he usual link for pujas – please email us if you need this: bristol@dech
 en.org).

SUMMARY:Chenrezik Mahamudra
DESCRIPTION:Chenrezik is revered in all traditions of Buddhism as the supre
me embodiment of compassion. At the Centre we do two different practices\,
this practice is called The Union of Great Compassion and the Great Seal.
Composed by Ngorchen Konchog Lhundrup this practice of Chenrezik is comb
ined with Mahamudra. Through meditation upon Chenrezik we quickly develop
compassion and conjoined with Mahamudra we are also benefitted by meditati
ng directly on the nature of mind.

SUMMARY:Meditation and study day in Exeter
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 7th November\, 10.30am-4.30pm in Exeter.\n\nWe look fo
rward to day of meditation and study on the text taught by Lama Jampa in B
ristol in June:\n"Lojong in a Single Session by Chim Namkha Drak".\nThis t
ext was composed in the thirteenth century by Chim Namkha Drak\, the great
abbot of the Kadampa monastery of Narthang in Tibet. It comes from the mi
nd training (Lojong) collection of teachings of which there are two main s
treams. Inspired by Atisha\, this stream encapsulates the essential steps
of the Mahayana\, presenting them in a way that we can apply directly to o
ur own personal situation – like all Lojong teachings. In fact\, the onl
y qualification we need to practise the teaching is\, as Lama Jampa Thaye
has said ‘our ordinary\, confused mind\, full of disturbing emotions\, f
ull of self-clinging and self-cherishing. With an unparalleled directness\
, they allow us to transform all situations\, positive and negative\, into
the path of awakening.\n\nWe'll cover the text in four one hour sessions
and each session will involve sitting meditation\, listening to a section
of the teaching\, time for reflection\, and questions.\n\nThe day will be
led by Miranda Moore and Rachel Deeming\, both students of Lama Jampa Thay
e and members of the Sakya Thinley Rinchen Ling admin team.\n\n"Lojong is
the life force of Dharma practice” Karma Thinley Rinpoche.\n\n Please a
rrive by 10.15am for a 10.30am start and bring food for lunch (to share if
  you wish)\n Sessions: 10.30-11.30am / 12.00-1.00pm / 2.00-3.00pm / 3.30-
4.30pm\n Facility Fee: £15 for the full day – concessions available\n

Drolma\, Connected with the Four Classes of Tantra by Jamyang Khyentse Wan
gpo*\nTara is one of the most widely practised meditations in Tibetan Budd
hism.  The goddess herself is the embodiment of the liberating activity o
f all the buddhas.  This particular practice of Green Tara surrounded by
an assembly of 21 Taras was brought to Tibet by the great Indian master At
isha more than one thousand years ago\, and is now found in all lineages o
f Tibetan Buddhism.  This special form of the female Buddha-deity Tara\,
green in colour\, is particularly efficacious in dispelling fears and sick
nesses.\n\n\nAnyone who has taken refuge and received a Green Tara initiat
ion (from any lineage) and the reading transmission (lung) for this partic
ular sadhana text* is welcome to join us.

SUMMARY:Green Tara
DESCRIPTION:Green Tara Meditation\nThe Condensed Essence Sadhana of Jetsun
