Description |
There will be a Green Tara meditation day on Sunday 28th September in Bristol.Green Tara is revered as the mother of all the Buddhas and the embodiment of wisdom and compassionate activity. She is one of the most widely practised meditation deities in Buddhism and her blessings provide protection from all fears. Anyone who has taken refuge and received a Green Tara initiation (from any lineage) and the reading transmission (lung) for this particular sadhana text* is welcome to join us. Lama Jampa gave the initiation and lung in Bristol most recently on June 8th 2024. There is also a monthly group practise of Green Tara meditation on Thursdays (8-9pm) at the Sakya Buddhist Centre in Bristol, so this is an opportunity to learn the meditation and join these regular group sessions (pujas) in the future. The sadhana text we use at the Sakya Centre in Bristol is “The Condensed Essence Sadhana of Green Tara”* composed by the great Sakya master Jamyang Khyenste Wangpo. This includes the famous praises to the 21 Taras, which was originally brought from India to Tibet by the great Indian master Atisha more than one thousand years ago, and is now found in all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. There is an instruction booklet for the practice based on a teaching by Lama Jampa Thaye called “Swift to Liberate” and in the second session of the day we will use this to guide us through the different stages of the practice. We will recite the sadhana (text) in Tibetan but if you are new to it you are welcome to sit in and join the prayers, following the text in English while you learn the practice. Copies of the sadhana and the booklet will be available to purchase if you need them. Meditation Day on Sunday 25th June 2023The day will consist of 4 sessions:
