Dedications

In the weekly practice schedule at the Sakya Buddhist Centre, we perform regular prayers and meditation practices (pujas), and dedicate the merit for the benefit of all beings.

If you would like us to make particular dedications, perhaps for your family or friends, or others who you know need help, please contact us.

Dedications are traditionally made to help with:

  • Caring for the deceased and dying
  • Overcoming illnesses
  • Overcoming obstacles
  • Supporting long life

Everyone is welcome to sponsor these prayers and pujas.

You do not need to be a Buddhist to request a dedication – we welcome requests from the local community and beyond. It is traditional to make an offering to the Centre when making such a request.  Offerings will be used to fund the running of the Centre and its varied programme of activities, many of which are offered free of charge. You can make a donation online here, or you can make an offering in person at the Centre – either way please contact us to make a request (click here to email us).

It is necessary to have received initiation and instruction from a Buddhist teacher to participate in some meditation sessions, but it may be possible for you to attend part of a session that you sponsor – please talk to a member of the Centre’s administration team to ask about this.
