Description
Meditation day: Saturday, March 2nd 10.30 to 4.30: “Parting from the four attachments”

“Parting from the Four Attachments”, or Zhenpa Zhidral in Tibetan, is a four line teaching that originates with one of the five great masters of the Sakya tradition, Sachen Kunga Nyingpo, who received it from the bodhisattva Manjusri, the very embodiment of wisdom.

This teaching highlights the four main kinds of attachment, from the more obvious to the more subtle, which are obstacles to realising the qualities of wisdom and compassion which are in fact our Buddha nature. The commentaries indicate the remedies to these attachments.

Outlining a clear path, it shows us where to begin from in dharma and what teachings to practise; it also demonstrates how the Mahayana teachings are embodied in the framework outlined by these four lines.

Over time many great masters of the Sakya tradition have written and transmitted commentaries on this famous text , embodying as it does the entire path to enlightenment.

To lead the day we are very pleased to welcome back David Armstrong, a long-standing student of Lama Jampa Thaye.David Armstrong

David will spend the day working through this teaching in four sessions. There will be an opportunity to contemplate them in meditation and also ask questions.
