Entering the Buddhist Path – with Lama Jampa Thaye

Date 03/06/2018
Time 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
Address

Sakya Buddhist Centre, 121 Sommerville Rd, Bristol, BS6 5BX, United Kingdom

Description

A chance for those new to the Buddhist Path to meet Lama Jampa Thaye, renowned Buddhist scholar and meditation master and Spiritual Director of the Sakya Buddhist Centre in Bristol. Lama Jampa will give a short talk about entering the Buddhist Path, but the session is also an opportunity for people to ask any questions they have about Buddhism and how to practise it in their lives.

The session is open to anyone interested in finding out more about entering the Buddhist Path, and in meeting an authentic Buddhist teacher.

Lama Jampa Thaye is an extraordinary Buddhist teacher. He met his first spiritual teacher, Karma Thinley Rinpoche, at the age of 20 in 1973 and his other principal masters include H.H. Sakya Trizin, the Head of the Sakya Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.  As a result students of Lama Jampa Thaye are in the rare position to be able to receive the authentic Buddhist teachings, which Lama Jampa delivers with exceptional clarity, down to earth humour, and compassion.

In this short video Lama Jampa describes the importance of finding a teacher in Buddhism: Why do we need a teacher in Buddhism?

The shrine room has limited capacity, so please give priority to those who are new to the Centre and haven’t yet had an opportunity to meet Lama Jampa.

Free to attend. Children aged 12 and over are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
