MAJOR EVENT: Lama Jampa Thaye teaching in Bristol

Date 12/10/2024
Time 10:30 am - 4:30 pm

Future Inn, Bond Street South, Bristol, , BS1 3EN, United Kingdom

10.30am-1.00pm: Discriminating the Three Vows by Sakya Pandita (open to all).

Lama Jampa will continue with part 10 of ‘Discriminating the Three Vows’ by Sakya Pandita, one of the five Gongmas (venerable masters) who founded the Sakya tradition of Buddhism. Usually taught in the monastic colleges, this is the first time this text has been taught in the UK and so offers a rare opportunity to receive this extensive explanation of the Buddhist path.

Lama Jampa has explained that while, as beginners in the dharma, it may not yet be possible to understand all that is contained in the text, by receiving it now, it will be there for us when we can most benefit from it.  The text will be taught in consecutive parts in Bristol and London throughout 2024, and it is not necessary to have received the first parts to attend:

  • PART 9: 8 June 2024 BRISTOL
  • PART 10: 12 October 2024 BRISTOL
  • PART 11: 23 November 2024 LONDON

Online booking for each part will be available a few weeks before each event via the Dechen London and Dechen Bristol websites.

2.30-4.30 pm: The initiation of Manjushri Arapatsana*

The initiation of Manjushri Arapatsana, the embodiment of enlightened wisdom. Meditation on this deity is an especially effective way of acquiring a profound understanding of the teaching.

*In order to attend this initiation one must have made a formal commitment to the Buddhist path through ‘Taking Refuge‘. If you would like to request to take refuge prior to the initiation please email:

[Please note that as many people from the Centre will be going to this teaching, there will be no Saturday morning meditation class in Bristol on this date].
