Meditation and Study Day in Exeter

We will be welcoming back to Exeter, David Armstrong, a long-standing student of Lama Jampa Thaye, for a day of study and meditation at the Friends’ Meeting House.

David will be taking us through part three of a celebrated text, “A Garland of Jewels” by the Sakya founding Lama Chogyal Phagpa. This work covers the entire Buddhist path, from the level of a beginner to that of full enlightenment. Suitable for newcomers and the more experienced practitioner. It is an easy to understand, comprehensive introduction to the dharma, from the level of a complete beginner to the description of the qualities and activities of a Buddha himself or herself.

Each session will involve sitting meditation, listening to a section of the teaching, time for reflection and brief questions.

Attendance at the earlier meditation days is not essential as David will give an overview for those who have missed previous sessions.

The day will be ideal for anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of the Mahayana Buddhist path. 

• Please arrive by 9.45am for a 10.00am start
• Please bring your refreshments, including lunch
• The day will be divided into four sessions: 10.00-11.00, 11.30-12.30, 1.30-2.30, 3.00-4.00
• Facility Fee: £15 per day or £5 per session

We will be following venue requirements from the government relating to covid 19:

• please do not attend the event if you have symptoms of coronavirus (a new continuous cough, a high temperature or a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell), or are living with someone who has.
• Please maintain 2m distance; use the hand sanitiser and wash your hands; observe the one-way system; and bring a face covering with you (there is a legal requirement for all attendees 11 years and over to wear face coverings in the venue unless the person has a reasonable excuse for not wearing one).
• In order to support the NHS Test and Trace programme we are collecting phone numbers in advance. If you agree to providing you telephone number for this reason, please reply to paul.rogers@dechen.org with your Name(s) and Telephone number as soon as possible and before 3^rd November 2020.
• We will keep your details safely and in compliance with legislation for 21 days before securely disposing of or deleting them. We will only share your details with NHS Test and Trace, if asked, in the event that it is needed to help stop the spread of coronavirus. We will not use your details for any other purposes or pass them on to anyone else.
