Meditation and Study Day in Exeter – postponed

Date 06/03/2021
Time 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Wynards Lane Magdalen Street, Exeter, Devon, EX2 4HU, United Kingdom

Unfortunately the meditation and study day on 6th March has had to be postponed until later in the spring. This will depend entirely on the easing and nature of lockdown restrictions.  The government is due to make an announcement about this around 22nd February.  We will then update this webpage.

We will be welcoming back to Exeter David Armstrong, a long -standing student of Lama Jampa Thaye for a day of study and meditation at the Friends’ Meeting House. (Wynards Lane, Magdalen Street, Exeter, Devon, EX2 4HU)

David will be taking us through part 4 of a celebrated text, “A Garland of Jewels” by the Sakya founding Lama Chogyal Phagpa with a commentary by Lama Jampa Thaye.

This work covers the entire Buddhist path, from the level of a beginner to that of full enlightenment. Suitable for newcomers and the more experienced practitioner, it is an accessible but comprehensive introduction to the dharma, from the level of a complete beginner to the description of the qualities and activities of a Buddha himself or herself. The topic for this session, which continues with the mahayana path, will mainly be the 6 paramitas(perfections) – generosity, morality, patience, effort, meditation and wisdom.

Each session will involve sitting meditation, listening to a section of the teaching, time for reflection and brief questions.

The day will be ideal for anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of the Mahayana Buddhist path.

  • Please arrive by 9.45am for a 10.00am start
  • Please bring your refreshments, including lunch
  • The day will be divided into four sessions: 10.00-11.00, 11.30-12.30, 1.30-2.30, 3.00-4.00
