Description

This talk offers a rare opportunity for members of the public to hear this great Buddhist master, His Holiness Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, the Head of the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism (from March 2017), who will describe the transformative power of Buddhism within the context of the 21st century.

During the evening His Holiness will explain how, through practising the Buddhist path, it is still possible for us all to achieve lasting happiness and freedom from suffering despite the the stresses and turbulence so prevalent in the modern world.

Born in Dehra Dun, India in 1974, His Holiness is one of the principal lineage holders of the Sakya tradition, one of the four main Schools of Tibetan Buddhism.  He is the eldest son of the 41st Sakya Trizin and one of the most important of the younger generation of Buddhist teachers alive today.  His Holiness has received an extensive education in all the major Buddhist teachings, and is fluent in English, which helps bring the wisdom and compassion of these teachings to a Western audience.  His Holiness is married and has three young children. You can read his full biography here.

This year marks 40 years since the founding of the Sakya Buddhist Centre in Bristol, and so we are delighted that His Holiness has agreed to visit during this celebratory year.  We hope that everyone will feel welcome to attend this landmark event.
