Sakya Pandita Guru Yoga

On this, the anniversary of Sakya Pandita Kunga Gyaltsen (1182-1251), we will practice The Guru-Yoga of the protector Manjusri Sakya Pandita entitled: “A Great Rain of Knowledge, Love and Power”.

To attend, it is necessary to have received the initiation of Sakya Pandita. (Lama Jampa gave this initiation in Bristol on January 29th 2022).

Sakya Pandita was the fourth of the “Five Venerable Masters” (Gongmas) of the Sakya tradition, and the sixth Sakya throne holder. He was one of the greatest scholars in Tibetan Buddhism and a realised master.

He authored some of the core texts of the Sakya shedra curriculum, notably “Elucidating the Thought of the Sage” and “Discriminating the Three Vows”, which have been taught by Lama Jampa, at the Dechen retreat centre in France, Changlochen.  The later is also being taught for the first time in the UK by Lama Jampa this year (2023-2025).
