Free meditation day at Sakya Buddhist Centre on Sunday 15 May

When the mind is placed in stillness, wisdom naturally arises” New Buddha

All are welcome to come along to the Sakya Buddhist Centre for a day of tranquillity meditation in our peaceful shrine room. You can come along to any or all of the sessions, which are free, last an hour and include full instructions.

Timings are below:

10.30am – 11.30am
12.00 – 1.00pm
Lunch
2.00pm – 3.00pm
3.30pm – 4.30pm

No experience is necessary, just an interest in Buddhist meditation, and a willingness to learn the method of meditation. There is no charge for the day; donations are welcome. The breaks can be spent in the garden and social spaces at the Centre, with St Andrews Park just over the road for those wishing to stretch their legs.  There’s also the opportunity to ask questions about meditation and Buddhism, and to meet people with experience of both. Tea and coffee will be available; please bring a packed lunch.

The day will focus on the meditation practice called ‘calm-abiding’; often one of the first steps taken by people interested in Buddhist meditation. Over time, the meditation can help to develop a calm and spacious mind, making our lives much easier. We can also develop the clarity and focus required to take things further on the Buddhist path, if we wish, to develop insight into the true nature of reality, and lasting happiness.
