Lama Jampa Thaye will be teaching in Bristol on Saturday 7th June 2025 at Future Inn and all are welcome to attend. 10.30 am – 1.00 pm: ‘Differentiating the Three Vows’ by Sakya Pandita (part 14)Lama Jampa Thaye will give the next instalment of his teaching on “Differentiating the Three Vows” (sDom-gSum rab-dbye in Tibetan), a text composed by the great master Sakya Pandita with a commentary by the philosopher Gorampa Sonam Senge. This is an astonishing work which can help us to discern which are the fundamental and uncorrupted teachings of the Buddha, enabling us to practise the path without error and with confidence that it will then work. Lama Jampa is now on the final section of the text which looks at the Vajrayana vehicle, the swiftest path to liberation, and anyone with a serious interest in Buddhism is welcome to attend (it is not essential to have heard the earlier parts). This is the first time Lama Jampa has taught this text in the UK and it offers a rare opportunity to receive this invaluable teaching. 2.30 – 4.30 pm: Initiation of GönkarIn the afternoon Lama Jampa will give the initiation of Gönkar. Gonpo Yizhin Norbu (Gonkar) is the wealth and protection bestowing emanation of Chenrezik. His practice was originally transmitted in the Shangpa Kagyu lineage and later preserved in the Sakya tradition where it is relied upon by many meditators. Refuge and the bodhisattva vow will be given to everyone during the preliminary part of the inititiation. [Please note that as many people from the Bristol Centre will be going to this teaching, there will be no Saturday morning meditation class on this date].
