Lama Jampa Thaye will be teaching in Bristol at Future Inn on Saturday 31st January 2026 and all are welcome to attend. 10.30 am – 1.00 pm: Mind Training of BirwapaThe Mind Training of Virupa (Birwapa) is a profound teaching from the great Indian mahāsiddha Virūpa, who transformed the ordinary mind into the path of awakening through direct experience. In this practical instruction, disturbing emotions themselves become the means to cultivate wisdom and compassion. Lama Jampa Thaye will explain how Virūpa’s radical approach reveals that every challenge can serve as a gateway to enlightenment. Suitable for both new and experienced practitioners, this teaching offers methods that bring the Dharma vividly into everyday life. The morning session is open to all. 2.30 – 4.30 pm: Initiation of White Tara from the lineage of Shakya ShribhadraThe goddess Tara is revered in all traditions of Vajrayana Buddhism as the embodiment of the liberating activity of all buddhas. White Tara is one of the three deities of longevity whose practice is renowned for bestowing the blessings of long life and thus increasing the opportunity for spiritual practice. This initiation is from the lineage of the mahasiddha Shakya Shribhadra. The afternoon session is open to anyone interested in following the Buddhist path: refuge and the bodhisattva vow will be given to everyone during the preliminary part. If you have any questions about this event please email the Administration Team at the Dechen Sakya Buddhist Centre in Bristol: bristol@dechen.org [Please note that as many people from the Bristol Centre will be going to this teaching, there will be no Saturday morning meditation class on this date].
